Kindergarten to Fourth Grade Report Card Policy:
Students are graded on a scale from 1-4 in the following areas every trimester:
The items we review in relation to the Spanish Curriculum from Kindergarten to Fourth Grade are from exploration to practice in order to reach mastery level. As long they have a D.Y.B. = a Do Your Best attitude and are kind to themselves and others, then they are on the road to success. MIDDLE SCHOOL: 5TH - 8TH GRADE

Requirements: (Please replenish as needed)
*Pencils with erasers (a must have) *Post it notes
*Expo marker, a must (black is best) * A highlighter (any color)
*Yet most importantly – a kind smile and a positive attitude goes a long way in creating a successful and fun class for all. ☺
Expectations:
Grading Policy: 5th – 8th Grade Students
***Please note that just like last year, there will be a biweekly Conduct Grade with a 1-4 Rating that is NOT combined into the overall academic grade, but does impact outdoor recess and club participation. ***
This year, more will be expected of HCS students in Spanish. We all want to do our best, so if there are any questions, or if you need to review a skill(s) please see me in person as soon as possible. This is how Spanish is being assessed this year:
*40% Assessment of Spanish Skills: Complex Assignments, Projects, Presentations and Tests in Vocabulary, Culture, Conversation, Grammar, Writing Skills and Reading Comprehension etc. Graded throughout various points in the trimester.
*Student is able to demonstrate learned or mastered complex skills from diligent independent, paired or group study throughout the trimester.
*Student demonstrates complex skills in independent conversation and presentation
*Student demonstrates grade level Spanish vocabulary usage
10% Homework and Class Preparation : Graded on a weekly or a biweekly basis.
*Student makes a sincere effort to do homework assignments that reinforce what was done in class. Assignments will be graded either on effort or skill mastery.
* When homework is done with effort, the student is then prepared to participate in the next class with more confidence, insightful questions and comments and will perform with more success on quizzes and tests
*Student comes to class with all needed materials
*Student comes to class on time and sits in assigned seat.
40% Class Participation & Classwork : Graded on a weekly or biweekly basis.
*Student quickly follows attention cues.
* Student respectfully pays attention and listens with an open heart and mind
*Student asks questions and shares insights
*Student works well in groups and independently
*Student is focused on the task at hand and does not interfere with other students’ learning
*Student adheres to Spanish Classroom Rules and Norms.
*Student demonstrates effort in Warm Ups, Do Now Assignments, Journal Writing and other class or group work etc.
10% Quizzes : Weekly or biweekly simple assessments
*Student is prepared to demonstrate level of mastery of simple skills from diligent independent, paired or group throughout the week(s).
